The Three Lions Recall Bukayo Saka While Bellingham, Foden & Grealish Are Omitted

The national side have recalled Bukayo Saka for next week's games versus Wales and Latvia, but there is no place for Bellingham, Phil Foden or Jack Grealish.

Arsenal forward Saka was absent from the previous qualifier wins against Serbia and Andorra with a hamstring issue.

The 24-year-old made a comeback for Arsenal and scored in their 2-0 win over the Greek side midweek.

The England international replaces Arsenal team-mate Noni Madueke, who is out of action till next month with a knee problem.

England meet Wales in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday prior to a World Cup qualifier in Latvia on 14 October.

If England win in Latvia, they will need a just two more points from their last two matches versus Serbia and Albania in November to reach next summer's tournament in North America.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah comes in for Newcastle's Livramento, who is sidelined for two months after sustaining a knee issue versus Arsenal last weekend.

Elliot Anderson and Spence, who received their first England call-ups previously, keep their spots. Ruben Loftus-Cheek also remains in the squad, despite the return to fitness of Wharton.

Saka has featured in just a single match for the manager since he became national team boss, because of injury concerns.

The midfielder was absent from the previous squad as he was rehabilitating after a shoulder operation and has managed just a single start for Real Madrid after coming back from injury.

Foden was left out from Tuchel's last England squad after a dip in performance and has been unsuccessful in returning, despite a strong start to the campaign with Manchester City.

Grealish also is excluded despite a revival in form on loan at Everton. The 30-year-old has not featured for England since October 2024.

Jude Bellingham's exclusion may raise some eyebrows but Tuchel believes there is no rush to recall the Madrid midfielder.

There will be regret that Arsenal's Madueke is not included due to injury.

If there is one surprise, it is the absence of Crystal Palace midfielder Wharton.
