New England matched their best victory streak since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's final season with the team in 2019

Quarterback Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The win extends the New England's advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark

The opposing team had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' opening drive

But the home team answered in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7

"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."

Justin Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots closed out the triumph
