Newly reappointed head coach the Ireland coach has selected skipper Caelan Doris in his Irish roster for the fall Tests, however lock McCarthy is absent.
The captain, absent from play since having a shoulder operation in early May, has come back to provincial training, but it remains unclear whether he will be fit to face the All Blacks in Chicago on 1 November.
Lock Joe McCarthy, on the other hand, did not make the cut after failing to recover from the foot injury suffered during the opening British and Irish Lions Test against Australia in the summer.
Northern province player Cormac Izuchukwu and southern province winger Calvin Nash are not included due to injury, and full-back Keenan was previously excluded after having a hip operation following the summer tour.
Leinster prop Paddy McCarthy - the brother of Joe - is the only uncapped member in the 34-player squad, however the Irish Rugby Football Union states uncapped provincial duo Edogbo and Gleeson and once-capped western province wing Bolton will head to the US as "reserves".
After playing the All Blacks at the Chicago stadium in a repeat of their previous meeting, the team will play Japan, Australia and world champions the Springboks in Dublin.
"There's an exciting look to the squad and there's an opportunity for the veteran players and for those who made their debuts on the recent tour to the Lelos and the Lobos," commented the coach, who returns to national team duties after taking a sabbatical to coach the Lions tour to the southern hemisphere.
In a mostly experienced squad, the Dublin club's Sam Prendergast and the southern club's Crowley will again vie for the starting fly-half position. The fly-half role is still available, as the two players set to play against each other for the first time in Saturday's United Rugby Championship match at the Dublin venue.
Ciaran Frawley is the third fly-half selected with Farrell opting against selecting the province's Harry Byrne.
At scrum-half, the Ireland boss has selected Lions tourist Gibson-Park and Casey, who captained Ireland to the summer international victories over the Lelos and Portugal. Additionally, there is a return for the western province's Blade, who is preferred to teammate Murphy.
Robbie Henshaw, Bundee Aki, Garry Ringrose and Stuart McCloskey form an experienced cohort of midfield choices. Jamie Osborne is another option in the midfield, but the youngster is additionally a frontrunner to cover for the full-back at number 15.
Wingers James Lowe, Hansen, O'Brien and Stockdale are included. The winger impressed on his national team debut during the summer with a brace each in the victories over the Lelos and the Lobos.
McCarthy is the only fresh addition in the Irish forwards. The front rower has been in two of his province's URC United Rugby Championship matches so far and featured in Ireland A's loss by the English in Bristol earlier this year.
The 22-year-old was included in caretaker coach Paul O'Connell's summer squad, yet did not receive a international appearance.
Munster second row Ahern, who received his debut appearances in those matches, is retained, and veteran Ulster lock Iain Henderson returns after missing the summer tour.
Jack Conan, who started each of the Lions matches during the tour, is set to deputise for Doris if the skipper does not regain full fitness soon enough to play New Zealand.
The national team will assemble in Dublin on the start of the week before traveling to Chicago on Tuesday.
